The exhibition is comprised of nearly thirty new works by the Artist that explore children, farmers, workers, shoppers and tradespeople against the fascinating past/present landscape that is Cuba today. La Vida Brava - Cuba Today is on view April 27 - June 23, 2023.
“Cuba is a vibrant and visceral country on the edge of great change. The people who live here are survivors and dreamers in a land where nothing goes to waste and everything is celebrated. This series of watercolor paintings explores the interlocking fibers that weave Cubans into their social, political, and physical environment. In these paintings, I wanted to depict this range of attitudes and emotions through the expressions, body language, and surroundings of these remarkable people.”

"Rance's richly detailed, figurative paintings set a new standard for me. I'm mesmerized by the emotions they evoke and the authenticity they represent. He has a way of capturing the love, spirit, and resilience of the Cuban people."

"My plan for this trip was to slow down my pace and when possible, allow each exchange to open the door to friendship and trust... It was "un regalo," a gift. Each person I captured in photos was a testament to the resilience and courage that is so prevalent there."
